OpenPlant Modeler Help

Parametric Section Editor

Used to create sections parametrically by selecting a section type (I-shape, L-shape, C-shape) and populating dimension properties.

Accessed from:
  • Ribbon: Structural > Sections > Create Parametric Section
SettingDescription
Preview Displays a 3D preview of the active section definition including it's placement point and member line. You can change the view rotation and the rendering mode using the drop down toolbars in the top left corner of the preview panel.
Tip: If you do not see the member line (yellow by default), try changing the display to wireframe.
Available Sections Lists sections defined in the project dgnlib or active dgn by category. A right click menu provides options to Delete or Rename selected sections.
Note: A section may be deleted only if it is not referenced by another object in the model. Sections are checked both for references by IsmCurveMembers as well as references from "compound" sections such as a varying sections or built up sections. If a section has references, Delete is disabled. Renaming is permitted even if a section is in use since the name is a cosmetic property. The relationships are based on the EC instances so the name is not used.
Parametric Shape Kind Used to select a section type as a starting point to creating the parametric section. Selecting a shape, for instance an I shape, adds dimension properties specific to the I shape such as Flange Width, Flange Thickness and Web Thickness.
Dimension Properties Used to define the dimensions of the parametric section. Dimension properties vary depending upon which section shape is active.
Short ID Used to enter a representative identifier text string to be used in flyover information for objects placed referencing the parametric section.
id Displays the full object id of the parametric section.
Name Used to enter a name to be used for the parametric section in all OpenPlant Modeler interfaces which could reference the parametric section.
Shape Displays the section in xml format. This field is read only.
Syncid Displays the ISM synchronization id to be used for the parametric section. This field is read only.
